Acne Scar Treatment Options
For many women, acne scars continue to haunt them even after their teenage years. When the acne fades away, your face will end up with discoloration. How you look before and after the clearing up of acne sometimes shock you. Acne scars affect your self-esteem and emotional well-being. Today, you can easily find solutions and new treatments in removing acne scars as the skin care industry advances.
If the acne becomes more severe, so is the scarring. That is why early treatment is the best solution to prevent scarring. If you treat the scar early, then it will not become severe. However, if you procrastinate, the scarring may become worse.
Sometimes, the scar is not what it appears to be. Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) look like scars. However, they are not scars. They develop when the skin become inflamed. Usually, they will go away but sometimes they can persist over one year. In this case, you can use treatments such as Mederma and skin lightener to speed up the process of fading away.
What is the best treatment for acne scars? None. Each treatment depends on the size, number, depth, and location of the scars. Sometimes, you may need a combination of treatments to achieve better results. For minor acne scars, you can use home remedies such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion creams. Here is some the therapies use today in treating acne scars.
Cosmetic Laser Surgery
Laser therapies come with either ablative or non-ablative lasers. The former usually uses CO2 and YAG laser. It burns the scar tissue and clears the outer layers of the skin. This causes the dermal collagen to constrict which makes the scar less noticeable. This therapy can damage your skin. You may have to tolerate the redness of your skin after the treatment.
The latter is less invasive. It uses smoothbeam, which directs its ray at the sebaceous gland and the nearby collagen. Just like the ablative laser, the dermal collagen also contracts to minimize the physical appearance of the scars.
Subcision
Dermatologist makes a hole in scar using a sharp instrument. This procedure will release the tension between the epidermis and deeper structure. It also stimulates the production of collagen.
Topical Medications
Many testified that Mederma could help to clear scars. If you plan to use over the counter topical medications, make sure they contain active ingredients such as amino acid peptides and L-ascorbic acid. These ingredients promote the production of collagen.
If you address the acne scars early, you can stop them from become severe. Prevention is the key in the acne scar treatment. The worry on how people look at you is a thing of past. Before you use any treatment, you should consult with your dermatologist.

I was never a big fan of lasers or injections, but have always hated the acne scars on my face. The most popular acne scar removing treatment is laser treatment, but I ruled that one out due to personal reasons. Then there were the injections, but I dreaded the idea of someone sticking needles in my face. So I went for the next best thing - chemical peeling. My physician applied a chemical solution to my skin and left it there for a certain amount of time. The peel dissolved my tissue cells, spurring the growth of new tissue, while improving the look and texture of my skin. The dead cells then slough off, revealing new skin cells. I couldn’t be happier with the results.

Acne scarring is perhaps worse than the acne itself.
My acne scars weren’t horrible. They probably weren’t even that noticeable after I put on my foundation. However, I certainly noticed them and that was all it took to bother ME.
If you’ve got acne scars, you may feel a bit helpless. But you don’t have to because there are alternatives to getting rid of acne scars. And you CAN do something about it.
So what do you do about it? Well, there is totally a solution … actually there are many.
These are NATURAL treatments.
Now, just because you hear the word “natural”, I don’t want you to shake your head and think you need to just buy some over the counter miracle cream. These remedies WORK! And you’ll find that by consistently using them, your acne scars WILL fade just like mine did.
So without further ado, here are my favorite natural acne scar solutions:
Vitamin E
. Vitamin E naturally heals scars by moisterizing the damaged skin. Use it everyday to fade away acne scars.
Don’t underestimate the power of this healing lotion. You can get it at any drugstore in topical form. I have a HUGE bottle of it under my sink
Cocoa Butter
This one should be used carefully. If your acne is not already under control, cocoa butter does pose the threat of additional breakouts. However, if you’re using the 3 Day Cure technique and your skin is finally clear, this is a powerful healing tool. Cocoa Butter will soften skin, lighten the scars and make them fade into nothing. I love this one. By the way, Cocoa Butter also works great on fading stretch marks.
Honey
Okay, this is totally gonna change your life! Honey works overtime on acne & acne scars. Yes, Honey! When I first learned about this natural remedy, I was pretty bewildered. The sound of it alone is confusing. Honey is a sticky, sugary substance. How can it possibly clear up skin?
Honey kills bacteria while simultaneously lessens the red look of irritated skin. The acidity in the honey evens out your skin tone, shrinks current pimples and will give your skin a softer feel. Listen, I know you may be skeptical of this solution. I was at first, then I tried it. This natural acne scar remedy works great.
Lemon
Lemon will help clear up acne as well as fade acne scars. Plus your face will smell like a freshly shined harwood floor, so that’s a plus
The acidity in the juice will lighten the redness of the scars and balance your skin’s pH levels to prevent future breakouts. Give it a shot.
