Skin Care Acne Control

  1. Exercise helps you to keep fit. A healthy body can control acne from flare ups. It eliminates negative stress as the results of negative self-esteem and depression. There are few precautions you need to take note. During the workout, you will sweat. You may use skin care products on your body. Always use products which are labeled as "noncomedogenic" and "oil-free". This helps to prevent pore clogging. After your exercise, make sure you wash off any skin care products from your body especially if you plan to go into a steam room or sauna.
  2. Always use "noncomedogenic" or "oil-free." cosmetics. They can prevent your pores from clogging and your skin from irritations. Shimmering facial colors usually contain a flaky mineral called mica. This substance can cause skin irritations and clog pores. Other additives in coloring such as coal tar derivatives, carmine and heavy cream in blushes can cause similar skin problems. Instead of a high gloss lipstick,  using a matte finish lip gloss that cause less  pore-clogging. The more glossy it is, the more comedogenic content it has which clog the pores even more.
  3. Studies show that diet does not help in acne control. However, what is best for your body is best for your skin, since your skin represents the largest organ of your body.  Vitamins and minerals that are good for skin can prevent acne breakouts. These include vitamin A (Retinol), vitamin B Complex, vitamin C, vitamin E, L-Carnitine, and zinc.
  4. Lack of hormones in women can lead to acne flare-ups. A study shows that about 50 percent of women experience acne problems (hormonal acne) during the week before their menstruation.  Some adult women take oral contraceptives or hormonal birth control pills and hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) together with conventional treatments.
  5. Harsh scrubbing or over-washing can cause skin irritation or over production of oil to replace those have been removed. This can clog the pores in the process. Choose skin care products with gentle exfoliation ingredients and without scratchy nut or fruit shell pieces that can tear skin. Avoid using those with alcohol content as it can remove  the top layer of your skin. As a result, your glands will produce more oil that obstruct the pores.
  6. You can buy some skin care products that are made for acne control. They should contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and retinoids.
  7. Shaving can remove dead skin in the pores. This will prevent the acne from spreading. In some cases, it can get rid of  whiteheads and blackheads from the face. However, do not shave on skin areas with infection or inflammation. If you have a sensitive skin, use a mild shaving cream.
